Nyssa

Update: Nyssa is doing great.
She still has a little trouble relating with certain cats. She wants to play rough and some just don't appreciate
her enthusiasm. :) She has bonded with a laid back adult male and also accepts young kittens in a short amount
of time. She is very loving to people and enjoys being held.
Nyssa, which means "new
beginnig" is a pretty DSH, brown Tabby with White kitty. She is approximately 1 year old. She was surrendered to the
shelter when she was very pregnant. The babies were born just one day after going into foster care. However, due to her weakened
immune system, Nyssa developed an Upper Respiratory Infection when the kittens were only a few days old and had to be force
fed and given fluids. This illness was soon passed to her kittens and although we tried very hard, only 1 of 5 is still surviving.
Nyssa was a great mom and tried her best to care for them no matter how bad she felt. She still helps the kitten that is left
by grooming her after her bottle feedings. Nyssa is not quite sure about other dogs and cats yet, but is slowly getting used
to the ones in her current foster home. It will take her a little while to get out of that "protective mommy" mode.
She is extremely affectionate with people and is a wonderful lap cat. This brave beauty has had her Rabies vaccine and her
first set of regular shots, is micro chipped, and already spayed. Her adoption fee is $100. Are you the one to help heal Nyssa's
broken heart and make her a part of your family? For more information about Nyssa, please call the shelter at 574-235-9303
or e-mail info@pawsnpurrs.org. Applications can be found online at http://www.southbendin.gov/doc/ACC_AdoptionApp.pdf. Kitten Season will soon be upon us. Young mothers and tiny kittens often don't survive in the shelter
systems. Please spay and neuter your pets and never let them roam freely outside.
Chloe
Update 07/20/08: Chloe has had a little setback and is not eating as well
as she should to maintain her health. We believe she has some broken teeth that are bothering her and will
probably need extracted. She has an exam appointment scheduled for Monday, July 21st at Western Veterinary
Clinic. Please continue to donate to our Hannah's Heroes Fund to help this sweet lady feel better.
Update: New test results show that Chloes is doing great and recovering from a urinary tract infection.
Chloe is a special kitty who is looking for a special family to love her. Please go to Chloe's Page to read her story. She is the wonderful mother of 5 kittens. All but Butters have
found their forever homes. She would be happiest in a quiet home where she could enjoy being a spoiled lap cat.
